It's that time a year again! The AccuQuilt Block Design Contest kicked off yesterday (3/20) and I got my entry in today! Check it out and give it a vote! The contest runs through April 19th and you can vote once each day for each of the entries you want to support.
This year the rules have changed a little and I think for the better! All designs have to be made using AccuQuilt die shapes and the top 15 voted blocks, along with an additional 15 chosen by the AccuQuilt team will be passed on to the panel of judges to choose the winners. I really appreciate contests that don't exclusively base the winner on votes. I think a lot of fantastic designs suffer when voting is the only winning criteria that matters.
My block is called Lattice Bloom! It is a 16" x 16" block and it can be made with AccuQuilt GO dies 1 1/2" strip cutter, 1" strip cutter, 2 1/2" half square triangle, 3" half square triangle, 3 1/2" square, and GO! Daisy! I wanted something bright for Spring since I'm itching to get out into my garden but I have to wait till after Memorial Day to avoid a potential late frost. Though the weather has been so mild this winter I'm betting my yard will come out of hibernation sooner this year.
I'll be working on a full tutorial for this block over the next month and expect lots of activity on my social network pages!
Now check out the contest and if you vote for Lattice Bloom, THANK YOU!
Congrats to Sherry Rose! She won the grand prize in the AccuQuilt Block Design Contest. Click here to see all the winners.
Lattice Bloom didn't win anything. Oh well, it will still get to live on as one or two table runner patterns. I've been having fun expanding on it's design. I'll share when they are ready.
